Water Awareness

At St Patrick's School we were told to bring swimming togs, towels and swimming caps to school because we were going to go to water awareness lessons. On Tuesday , the 8th June we were so excited to go swimming. We went in the bus.

We had fun but we had to listen to our teacher because we needed to know what to do if a big wave came while we were trying to swim back to the beach. Sometimes I nearly drown because I normally kick my legs downwards instead of on the top of the water.

St Patrick's children would always do a manu at the end of swimming. A manu is when a person jumps and makes a huge splash. One day was special because they had a boat in the pool. we had to get in and sit on the edge of the boat and they told us when to fall off backwards. we had to cross our arms and our legs.

I really enjoyed going to the lessons and I think I am better now at keeping safe. I would like to go again sometime.
